Trainee CYP CBT Practitioner
Living Well Consortium, a partnership of member organisations in Birmingham and Solihull, is recruiting for two Trainee CYP CBT High Intensity Practitioners to work within their NHS Talking Therapies service. The year long Traineeship involves teaching led by the University of Reading and work delivering sessions with a Living Well Consortium Service Provider.
The CBT course is at postgraduate level and offers an exciting opportunity to learn about evidence-based approaches for working with children, young people and their families. The training will cover the evidence-base for CBT and assessment and cognitive behavioural treatment strategies for managing anxiety disorders and depression in children and young people. It is a Level 2 accredited course with the BABCP and, upon completion, Trainees will meet the criteria to apply for provisional accreditation as a CBT Therapist with the BABCP.
Practitioners will, as part of their training, deliver treatment sessions to support children and young people experiencing emotional disorders such as generalised anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, social anxiety, specific phobias, separation anxiety disorder and panic disorder.
Candidates must have a degree or equivalent required to meet the academic requirements of CBT training. Applicants must also work in a core profession as recognised by the BABCP (https://babcp.com/core-professions/) or meet the eligibility criteria for the BABCP Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes route (https://babcp.com/Knowledge-Skills-Attitudes). Those completing the KSA portfolio must have completed a self-statement for KSA criterion 4 before interview and, if successful at interview, will need to prepare the other required sections ahead of the course start date.
This Traineeship is subject to the 2-year Psychological Professions Funding Rule and candidates who have previously completed NHS funded training (e.g. to become a PWP) must have had at least two years’ experience between the exam board of their previous course and the start of this training.
Successful candidates will be employed with a Living Well Consortium Service Provider.
